KRISHNA, THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD BOOK BY PRABHUPAD - SHORT REVIEW

Oops! A book on religion! I know how much you hate beliefs and dogmas. There was a time when I couldn’t digest those too. Many people believe a number of dogmas that they live by them every day. Maybe you want a glimpse of what they believe in, what they enjoy, and why they feel jubilant about their gods. Most probably, you have often heard these stories from your grandparents in bits and want to know the full-fledged version.

This book was authored by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. A purely devotional book, it concentrates on the incredible pastimes of Krsna as found in Srimad Bhagavatam. Krsna is taken as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, exploring his mischievous childhood and growth. Through this book, you can join Krsna in the reverential land of Vrindavan, where he enchants his devotees and battles the demons.

The book has some difficult words and redundant phrases that praise the Lord time and again. Around a thousand pages, it really takes a lot of discipline to complete this book. Nevertheless, while reading it, you will find stories to entertain you, and philosophical understandings to support you even after closing the book.

Who knows, just like me, your efforts of reading this book might do justice to you when you will again see those Bhaktas or when you are again asked by your parents to go to a temple. At that instance, you wouldn’t run away from them, rather with an understanding of Krsna, you might happily join them.
